Jennifer Goldring is a writer, editor, and photographer based in St. Louis, and working everywhere.
Jennifer Goldring is a photographer, writer, editor, and mother with a deep passion for storytelling in all its forms. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Economics, a combination that reflects her thoughtful, multifaceted approach to her work. When she isn’t writing, capturing moments behind the lens, or spending time with her two children, she serves as Managing Editor for december magazine, where she helps shape and elevate voices in contemporary literature.
Jennifer’s love of photography began in middle school during her first photography class, and she’s been hooked ever since — spending over 25 years exploring light, composition, and the alchemy of the darkroom and digital photography. Her photographs evoke emotion through balance, color, and subject, often capturing the intricate details of nature that might otherwise go unnoticed. With a focus on flora, fauna, and their wild places, Jennifer’s work explores the delicate balance between humans and the natural world. She hopes her images inspire a sense of environmental stewardship and a deeper connection to the planet.
As a writer, Jennifer explores themes of nature, resilience, and human connection. Her essays and poetry often weave together personal experiences with universal truths, aiming to leave readers with a renewed sense of wonder and possibility. She believes in the power of language and art to create change and spark dialogue and connection.
An avid hiker, backpacker, and environmentalist, Jennifer is a firm advocate for Leave No Trace principles, carrying these ethics into her creative practice. Through her art and writing, she hopes to inspire others to pause, look closer, and feel a deeper connection to the fragile beauty of our wild spaces — reminding us all of the role we play in protecting them for generations to come.
